Beltane Spring Fayre Group in association with Friends of Evington held
their annual May Fayre and Maypole dancing event at Evington Park House
and grounds on Saturday 9th May. The Fayre was held at Evington Park
for the second consecutive year.
The Pagan celebration was
hosted for the first time in 2005 at Castle Gardens, Leicester and
celebrated its tenth anniversary on Saturday.
The schedule for
the day was made up of talks, poetry readings and dancing. Acapella
singers ‘Young No More’ treated the audience to
English songs and the Tangent Poets and Pagan Poets, who are based at
the Curve Theatre in Leicester, conducted some open mic poetry readings
during the event.
Oak Room at Evington House provided a traditional setting for folk song
and guitar music delivered by Barry Reeves, renowned for his haunting
music and beautiful melodies
Friends of Evington provided
refreshments and a cooked meal. Sponsorship for the lunch came from the
Village Fish Bar at 28 Main Street in Evington. The day was filled with
an array of talks, workshops, readings and song.

A closing ceremony marked the end of an
eventful day fuelled with celebration of nature and spirituality.
